SCUBA diving in Thailand doesn’t get much better than this! Diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang, easily accessible from Koh Lanta as a day trip. These dive sites are probably two of the most famous dive sites in Thailand.

Diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang boast the deepest drop-offs in the country! It is no surprise why divers from all over the world come to Koh Lanta especially to dive into these two sites.  These giant pinnacles located in the middle of the South Andaman Sea, offer dramatic underwater scenery, with steep walls covered in red and purple soft corals, dropping right down to 60 m plus. Diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang has it all, and we can offer you the chance in a lifetime to experience these beautiful reefs.

Have you ever wanted to see a Manta Ray?

Despite the absolutely stunning underwater scenery with all the soft corals on the steep walls. Together with large schools of pelagic fish swimming just outside the reef walls waiting for their chance to find some smaller fishes. Imagine all of this, and then a Giant Manta Ray or Whale Shark glides past to visit the cleaning stations! These giants of the sea regularly come to visit diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang. Except for all the large stuff that we often see at these dive sites, there is also a large variety of makro hiding on the steep walls.

Diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang can be challenging

To be able to dive at this place there will not be enough to have a limit of 18 m depth. Sometimes the current is quite strong and challenging which is why we have to descend and ascend by a line. The reef starts at around 16 m and sometimes the only shelter from the current is to be found at 20 – 22 m or even deeper.

Advanced open water diver or open water diver with deep adventure dive is a minimum

If you are an Open Water certified diver it might still be possible to go diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang. Our demand is that you have been diving recently and are not a newly certified open water diver. It would then be a possibility to go with an instructor for the day and complete the PADI adventure dive on the day. We would include 2 adventure dives, one Deep and one other and both these dives will count towards the PADI Advanced open water certification. If you are newly certified then we may ask you to complete a day of fun diving with us at one of our local sites before signing up for Adventure dives at this site.

Diving is safe when you dive within the limits of your training level and capabilities. All our dive sites except diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang we can easily adapt the difficulty level to your personal experience and comfort level.

At this dive site there is a certain level that you would need to meet and we try to be very cautious about your safety. Diving is meant to be safe and fun and that is why we have set up the rules.
