The Training during the PADI Open Water Diving Course Koh Lanta

During the course you will learn in a relaxed and comfortable way how to dive safely, how to protect the underwater environment and what to do if something unexpected happens. The training is separated into three sections;

PADI Open Water Course Thailand

1. Knowledge development

For the theory part of the PADI Open Water Course Thailand you will have 2 options:
1. PADI eLearning theory and videos online using your computer or phone.
2. Traditional classroom-based study using books and watching videos at home and then fulfilling the theory part guided by your instructor.

PADI eLearning theory has the same content as the classroom option but is done online. If you are short on time or want to have the dive theory completed before you come to Koh Lanta on holiday, then you can consider completing the theory portion of the course.

Classroom-based theory knowledge development is done in our classroom and designed to teach you the dive theory. Knowledge development is where you will learn the principles, concepts, and terms necessary to become a PADI Open water diver in the relaxed and comfortable environment of our AC classrooms. We also ask for some self-study and watching videos before the course begins.

2. Confined water dives

Confined Water dives are where you head to the pool to complete a number of basic diving skills. These skills are explained and demonstrated by the instructor before you have to repeat the skill. The skills are designed to familiarize yourself with the equipment, learn basic buoyancy skills and also how to be safe underwater while diving.

The first two dives are to 12m and then the last two dives are to maximum 18m.
